NAPLAN practice that closes the gaps

A short diagnostic test shows where your child is stuck. Then one ten-minute set a day works on exactly that, all the way to NAPLAN day.

It starts with one short test

Nothing generic. What your child practises each week comes from what that first test found.

  1. Find out where they really are

A short diagnostic across Reading, Writing, Numeracy and Conventions of Language shows where your child really is, not where their year level says they should be.

  2. Follow a road that ends on NAPLAN day

One short set each school day on the topics that will actually make a difference, not a random pile of questions.

  3. Sit practice tests that feel real

Timed and sectioned like the real thing, with a result the moment they finish.

  4. See how they're going, in plain English

What's improving and what needs more time. Every level is an estimate and the report says so; it is not a prediction of the real result.

  • A road winding across an illustrated landscape from the first week to NAPLAN day, the weeks already done ticked off, this week marked with its number, and the weeks ahead still locked. Under it, this week's plan: a set for each school day from Monday's Numeracy through to Saturday's checkpoint quiz.

    The road to NAPLAN

Every week from today to NAPLAN day, and one set a day inside this one. About ten minutes each, short enough to finish.

  • A Year 9 Numeracy question under exam conditions - a section timer counting down, a question navigator, an answer selected, and the on-screen calculator open beside the question.

The same screen as the real test

The same chrome as the real thing: section timer, question navigator, and the on-screen tools where the paper allows one.

  • A Year 5 practice test before it starts: the rules for sitting it, then its four sections in order - Reading 50 minutes, Writing 42 minutes, Conventions of Language 45 minutes and Numeracy 50 minutes - over a Begin exam button.

    A full practice test

A whole test on the clock, timed and sectioned like the real one.

  • A progress report reading 72% of questions right first time, marked Strong and labelled an estimate, over per-domain bars for Reading, Conventions of Language and Numeracy, with a line chart of the last term beginning below them.

    The progress report

Where they started and where they are now, domain by domain.

What a week looks like

A week's plan, a question marked with the working shown, a piece of writing marked, a practice exam on the clock, and the report at the end. No sound, it just loops.

Made for kids in Years 2 to 9

Twenty minutes at the kitchen table after school. That's the whole idea, and it's why nothing in here takes an hour.

  • A girl of about fourteen with long dark hair in a plain white long-sleeved top, one hand in her jeans pocket and a navy notebook held at her side, half-smiling at the camera.
  • A boy of about ten with straight black hair in a cream long-sleeved top, smiling with one hand on his hip and a navy exercise book tucked under his other arm.

Not another worksheet pack

Most NAPLAN prep just hands you more questions. This starts by finding out where your child actually is, then only sets the work that will help.

  • Every domain the real test covers
  • A ten-minute set every school day, built from your child's own results
  • Full-length practice tests, timed like the real one
  • Honest results: every level is an estimate, and it says so

Questions parents ask

Is this official NAPLAN content?

No. NAPLAN Expert is not affiliated with, endorsed by, or approved by ACARA, and NAPLAN is a trademark of the Australian Curriculum, Assessment and Reporting Authority. Every question is original, NAPLAN-style material written to match the real test's format and difficulty - no official test items are reproduced. Anything official, from the test dates to the public demonstration tests, comes from ACARA directly.

Which year levels are covered?

Years 2 to 9. The test itself is sat in Years 3, 5, 7 and 9, and each of those has its own road and practice papers. The years in between work towards the paper ahead of them, so a child in a non-testing year starts on the same gaps now rather than waiting a year.

What subjects does it cover?

Reading, Numeracy, Conventions of Language and Writing: the same four domains as the real test. Reading works from passages the way the test presents them, Numeracy spans number, algebra, measurement, space, statistics and probability, Conventions of Language is spelling, grammar and punctuation, and Writing is a full piece against a narrative or persuasive prompt.

When is NAPLAN 2027?

The 2027 test window runs from Wednesday 10 March to Monday 22 March. Every school sits Writing on the first day and the other three domains on separate days inside the window, so most children are finished well before it closes. Your child's own dates come from their school; ACARA publishes the window.

Is a practice result the same as a real NAPLAN score?

No, and every result on the platform says so directly. A proficiency level here is an estimate drawn from that sitting alone, not a prediction of your child's actual NAPLAN outcome. It shows what to work on next, not what the result will be.
